I am currently the Undergraduate Program Director of Illustration and Assistant Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where I teach illustration in the College of Art and Design, School of Art. I am also a freelance illustrator, working primarily in advertising since 1993. I work in both traditional and digital media, including gouache, Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, and Procreate.
In addition to my work at RIT, I serve as the Chaplain for The Nichiren Buddhist Community at the Schmitt Interfaith Center, Spirituality and Religious Life. There, I teach Buddhist doctrine, hold weekly liturgical services, and serve as a confidential resource for the RIT community.
At RIT, my academic research is Buddhist iconography centered on the teachings of the Buddha found in the Lotus Sutra (discourse). From my research, I explore the components and configurations of mandalas, amulets supported by deities, and narrative scenes of learning and practicing in various rendering mediums and processes, including relief printing, stamps, gouache, Adobe Illustrator, and Procreate.
